Once upon a time flying was just a dream. In 1903 the dream was finally realized, when the Wright brothers succeeded in making the first controlled human flight – lasting only 12 seconds and covering a distance of 40 meters.

As leisure trips to distant destinations take off during the winter schedule, you will often be transported to another financial culture. In many Finnair destinations haggling is still an essential part of the culture. A skilled haggler knows the rules and is able to strike the right note necessary to make a good deal.

Landing in the thickest fog is indeed possible, however. This is facilitated by airport procedures and the aircraft’s automatic flight control system – namely the autopilot.

Interpreting body language and reading thoughts are clearly best left to the professionals. Despite my great enthusiasm and interest in the subject, I still obtain the most reliable information from words.
Once, when I was serving food, a male passenger looked at the plate and said: “NO MEAT! NO CHICKEN!” Then after a moment’s pause, he continued: “I AM A VEGETABLE!”
